SO WHAT

1.     The gospel was planned by God a long time before the arrival of Jesus on the earth.  The reason for it (or need of it) applies to all generations – those who lived before Jesus, during His lifetime, and those alive today. We should use God’s word to understand the fundamental things about human nature that the gospel applies to. We should bring the gospel into those aspects of life, and not get hung up on the superficial issues that are unique to the generation in which we live.

2.     The gospel originated in God’s “mind”, not the mind of man. It is not a movement driven by socially aware people. Therefore, we shouldn’t alter the gospel based upon what we see going on around us.

3.     Believers in Jesus shouldn’t be surprised by anything. We will naturally experience good things and bad things in life when we follow the gospel.  We can be confident that the bad things we see around us will never diminish the good news of the gospel.

4.     To fully realize the benefits of the gospel, we need to repent of sin.

5.     Jesus experienced what we experience. As followers of the gospel, we should be encouraged that God is not asking us to do anything that He has not already done Himself.  We need to remember that factas we work out our salvation and spread the good news of the gospel.

6.     We should look to Jesus for our needs because He offers us things that no man can.

7.     We should intentionally do things in our lives specifically because of the gospel (what Jesus did for us).  That includes laying the groundwork for people to hear the gospel, sharing the gospel, and living out the gospel (follow Jesus).
